It’s been a sad time in our household recently. After dealing with what we thought were allergy skin issues for several months, our beloved, adorable Molly has been diagnosed with cutaneous lymphoma, a form of skin cancer. This type of lymphoma is pretty uncommon, and there’s really no cure. The best we can hope for is that with chemotherapy she goes into remission, but it always comes back and is more resistant to additional treatment. Every dog responds differently to treatment, so we don’t really have a time frame until we see how she does after the first few doses. Our goal right now is to keep her comfortable and give her the best quality of life possible. She is a light in our lives, so sweet and silly, loving and sassy. We are devastated, but intent on making her world as wonderful as possible for the time we have left with her.

In addition, the vet determined that her heart murmur, which we knew she had, was beginning to cause her congestive heart failure. Fortunately we caught it early, so she’s now on medication to clear up the fluid in her lungs and to strengthen the valve in her heart. So I take comfort in the fact that she’s healing up well, hopeful that the chemo is doing its job, and just praying for more time with my little sassy-pants.
